From August 25 to 29, Irkutsk will host the traditional August meetings of the teaching community, bringing together about 16 thousand participants. The program includes a city conference, district meetings, section sessions, seminars on the Federal State Educational Standards and education quality assessment, and a meeting of young specialists, Your name is teacher. Special attention will be given to the results of the past school year, teaching problems, and education development prospects, and the week will end with the initiation of young teachers at the Alley of Pedagogical Glory.

From August 25 to 29, the traditional August meetings for the city’s teaching community will be held in Irkutsk. They are organized by the Department of Education of the Committee on Social Policy and Culture of the Irkutsk City Administration.
The week of August events will open on August 25 with a citywide conference of the teaching community, which will bring together more than 300 participants at the Druzhba leisure and cultural center. These include principals of schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, children’s creativity centers, youth sports schools, teenage clubs, and preschool educational institutions.
On August 26, meetings of the teaching community will be held by administrative districts.
On August 27, there will be sectional meetings of the chairpersons of subject methodological associations and departments across all educational areas and academic subjects. Teachers will discuss the results of the year’s work, as well as the problems and prospects of teaching individual subjects in the context of implementing the new educational standards.
The results of the methodological work will be summed up on August 27 at a conference for deputy principals for scientific-methodological, academic-educational, and educational work at School No. 23.
As part of the August events, from August 25 to 27, a seminar for deputy principals of general education institutions will be held: “The System of Pedagogical Activity in the Context of Implementing the Federal State Educational Standards for General Education: Designing Educational Situations, Methodological Support, Monitoring Educational Outcomes.” On August 28, the scientific-practical seminar “Assessing the Quality of Education: Approaches, Methods, Procedures” is scheduled. They will be conducted by leading experts from Moscow: Marina Bityanova, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Director of the Center for Psychological Support of Education “TOCHKA PSI,” editor-in-chief of the journal “Classroom Leadership and the Education of Schoolchildren,” and Tatyana Merkulova, psychologist-methodologist at the Center for Psychological Support of Education “TOCHKA PSI.”
On the last day of the week, August 29, the city conference of young specialists “Your Name Is Teacher” will take place at the Irkutsk City History Museum, after which there will be an initiation of young specialists into the teaching profession at the Alley of Pedagogical Glory.
About 16,000 education workers and heads of educational institutions of all kinds and types, as well as representatives of the city administration and the teaching community of Irkutsk, will take part in the August events.
