In Irkutsk early on September 5 the office and home of the owner of the dog kennel Strazh Olesya Okun burned down completely. Six dogs died in the fire, and all property was destroyed. The other animals were not hurt. The owner does not rule out arson and asks for help. Money, building materials, clothes, shoes, appliances, and animal food are needed.

The office of the “Strazh” dog kennel in Irkutsk burned down completely; this happened early in the morning on September 5, around four o’clock. During the fire, the office and the private house of Olesya Okun, the owner of the dog kennel, were destroyed.
The fire destroyed all the property that was in the house and office. The animals housed at the kennel fortunately were not injured, but six dogs that were in the owner’s private house at the time of the fire died.
The kennel was located at Irkutsk, Sverdlovsky District, Voronezhskaya St., house 2, (building No. 14). During a conversation with a correspondent, Olesya Okun said that she tends to suspect arson. According to her, the owner had been threatened; a check is now being carried out to verify these assumptions, and until it is completed, it is difficult to speak about the cause of the fire. By coincidence, Olesya’s two minor children stayed with their grandmother that night, while the kennel owner herself had gone away on business. The kennel and shelter grounds had workers there at the time. Olesya arrived at the site when the fire had already engulfed the kennel building.
- At the kennel today around 4 o’clock, the house burned down, the one that contains my office and in which I live. There were things, documents, and everything else there. Everything burned. I think this did not happen just like that, but we will wait for the experts’ conclusion. Six of my dogs died in the burned house. The other animals - in the shelter and kennel - were not harmed because they were in other rooms. My dogs live in the kennel, and in the shelter I take in animals for temporary care or permanently, animals that are difficult for people without skills to care for. I am a doctor and have experience. In total there are about one hundred dogs there - about twenty of them are shelter dogs, - Olesya Okun said.
The “Strazh” dog kennel will accept any help — financial and charitable, since Olesya Okun has nothing left. Now, before winter, it is necessary to manage to build a house; women’s clothing in size 42 is needed, as well as women’s, men’s, and children’s shoes - sizes 36-37, 39-40-4 and 44. There is an urgent need for a refrigerator, dishes, bedding, any household appliances, as well as food for the animals. The affected people can also be helped with building materials to erect at least temporary housing. Information can be clarified by calling the kennel owner Olesya Okun at 99-81-70.
