Irkutsk region Governor Sergei Eroshchenko commented on the September 14 election results and said the government is ready to work with the elected mayors and deputies.

At a recent briefing, the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sergei Eroshchenko, commenting on the results of the elections held in the region on September 14, said that the government is focused on serious joint work with the elected mayors and deputies.
The head of the region emphasized. – “I would like to note the principled position of voters in Angarsk, Bratsk, and the Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug, who supported the process of resetting local government that we have begun. Now Mayor Sergei Petrov in Angarsk, Sergei Serebrennikov in Bratsk, as well as other mayors and heads, will need to make maximum efforts to justify this trust. The residents of the Irkutsk Region have become more consistent in their choices. Consolidating the population around a constructive beginning is the main goal we wanted to achieve. We supported not just active party members, but individuals who have earned respect through real deeds in their districts.”
The governor also noted that most of the elected mayors and heads are candidates from the United Russia party; their number amounted to 12 out of 15 elected officials. Of these, almost all candidates won by a wide margin, ultimately receiving more than 50% of the votes. Sergei Serebrennikov in Bratsk received 57.44%, which is 3.5 times more votes than his nearest rival, Communist Konstantin Polosin, who received 14.13%. In Angarsk, Sergei Petrov received more than 55.35% - which is 2.5 times more votes than the other candidates; his nearest rival, Irkutsk regional legislative assembly deputy from the CPRF Sergei Brenyuk, received 20.6%. Third place with 8.26% went to Valery Kurochkin, CEO of OAO RTA Plant, “Born in the USSR.” In the Bayandayevsky District of the Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug, Anatoly Tabinaev received more than 80% of the votes. Now in the Bratsk City Duma, 15 of the 25 deputies are representatives of United Russia. In the Irkutsk City Duma, 97% of the mandates belong to the party of power.
– We are always ready for substantive dialogue and good discussion. For leaders in their places, there are processes more significant than the political season. These are the issues that need to be resolved for the development of the region. They must be resolved together - by both regional and municipal authorities. As a united team. And we must regularly report to residents on our work. Honestly and responsibly, – Sergei Eroshchenko said.
