Irkutsk has tightened acceptance of road work, now quality is checked not only by the Irkutskavtodor lab but also by IRGTU specialists, and each contract has a separate supervisor. Bulat Dugarov inspected several sites where repairs are nearly complete and said how the bitumen limit affected the schedule. Work is continuing on Severnaya Street, and on Kostycheva and Stasova streets, where the roadway has been widened and sidewalks and street lighting updated.
The chairman of the Committee for Urban Development of the Irkutsk city administration, Bulat Dugarov, visited several sites that are at different stages of completion. The so-called “milling” was carried out on one of the “large maps” in the area of the public transport stop “GES Administration”.“Since this year, acceptance of work under municipal contracts has been tightened. In addition, the Mayor of Irkutsk, Viktor Kondrashov, gave an additional instruction: when accepting the work, to more strictly control the quality of the work performed,” Bulat Dugarov said. “We carry out acceptance not only with the involvement of the certified laboratory of the municipal enterprise ‘Irkutskavtodor’. This year we are involving the specialized laboratory of Irkutsk State Technical University. Also, each contract has an assigned responsible curator in the Committee for Urban Development.”
Only after laboratory tests and visual inspection of each section is the site considered accepted. Acceptance is currently underway for a 100 million-ruble contract under which additional funds were allocated in the summer for road repairs in Irkutsk — this is 120,000 m2. Almost all the work has been completed.
“At the moment, all asphalt concrete plants in the city are facing a shortage of bitumen, which we receive from ANHK. The plant has shut down for maintenance work, and the market is feeling it. This has negatively affected the deadlines for completing the work,” the chairman of the Committee for Urban Development explained. “However, due to temperature conditions, contractors can safely finish the work; the technologies allow this to be done now in suitable weather.”
Repairs are also currently being carried out on Severnaya Street — on the section from Radishcheva St. to Karbysheva St. As of today, work has been completed to replace the roadbed, and new sidewalks are being constructed. In the coming days, paving of the roadway and sidewalks, as well as pedestrian crossings, will be carried out. The total length of the repair section will be 800 m.
At another site, the work is in its final stage — these are Kostycheva Street (on the section from Beloborodova St. to building No. 95/3 on Varlamova St.) and Stasova Street (on the section from Kostycheva St. to Obrucheva St.). On Stasova Street, the road has been widened in both directions, the roadbed has been replaced, it has been paved, and the pedestrian area in the form of an alley has also been paved. Street lighting has also been repaired on Stasova Street.
The roadway of Kostycheva Street on the section from Beloborodova St. to building No. 95/3 on Varlamova St. has also been widened, and additional traffic lanes have been arranged at the intersections with Goncharova and Stasova streets. Work has been completed to repair street lighting and pave the sidewalks.
