In Irkutsk, International Volunteer Day will be marked not only ceremonially but also with excitement. On December 4, volunteers will compete in intellectual football, and on December 9 the celebration will continue at a sports spartakiad. Organizers hope these contests will strengthen team spirit and bring together volunteers from different centers.
On December 5, by decision of the UN General Assembly, since 1985, in gratitude to all people who have voluntarily contributed to the development of the economy and social programs in many countries, International Volunteer Day has been observed.At the Volunteer Coordinating Council, established under the administration of the city of Irkutsk, it was decided to mark the holiday with intellectual and sports competitions. On December 4 at 2:30 p.m., the first stage of Volunteer Day will take place at the pedagogical institute of ISU (6 Nizhnyaya Naberezhnaya St.). Teams from the city’s volunteer centers will compete in intellectual football. Over the course of two rounds, the teams will answer questions from various fields of knowledge.
The second stage, the sports one, will take place on December 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vesna clubhouse. The sports festival will bring together teams from various volunteer associations. The competitions are intended to build team spirit among the city’s volunteers and bring together volunteers from different centers.
