In Irkutsk, the results of the microblogger contest organized by the city online newspaper Province were summed up for the second time. Winners were chosen in two stages, by user voting and expert jury, and among the laureates were the city administration, the Interior Ministry, and the themed microblog Bukenarium. Organizers note that Twitter is becoming an increasingly socially active platform in the city, where media, residents, and authorities can communicate quickly and openly.

The independent competition among Irkutsk microbloggers is being held for the second time by the city online newspaper “Provintsiya.”
Voting took place in two stages: user voting on the website and evaluation by an expert jury. The laureates’ Twitter accounts were evaluated by last year’s Twitter award winner in the “Twitter Activist” category, Natalya Kaygorodova; the director of the “Diagran Digital” agency, Dmitry Salko; the commercial director of the “Social Networks” company, Sergey Vepentsev (Novosibirsk); and one of the founders of the digital agency Little Big Agency, Vasily Bogdanov (Moscow).
The best Twitter account among Irkutsk media was recognized as the city administration’s Twitter account @admirk_ru. The winner in the “Best Corporate Twitter” category was the account of the Irkutsk Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs @mvd38. The best thematic microblog was named Bookeanarium @bookeanarium. Personal awards in various categories were received by the authors of popular tweets, as well as microbloggers with the largest number of followers and posts. The winners were presented with symbolic handmade prizes and diplomas.
According to the organizers, this year there were more socially active people on Twitter, media outlets became interested in the microblogging service for presenting their news and texts, and thematic blogs appeared. In addition, the short-message format makes it possible to maintain open and prompt communication between city residents and government bodies. The competition is also scheduled for mid-December next year.
