In September 2014, the administration of the city of Irkutsk launched a new citywide charitable project, “City Without Loneliness.” The project is a series of events aimed at involving lonely people in the life of the city and creating conditions for the development and improvement of their quality of life. At the first stage of the project, active work is being carried out with lonely elderly people, children from social care institutions, and single mothers. These target groups need our help right now. Every day, new business entities, public organizations, and ordinary residents of our city join the project.
Within the framework of the project, a fair-sale of crafts made by children from an orphanage has already been held, free training in hairdressing, manicure, and massage has been launched for girls from orphanages, coupons for a free haircut have been provided for lonely elderly people, free tours of the city’s museums have been held, and trips to theaters have been organized. The next major event of the outgoing year 2014, important for lonely elderly people, is the organization of New Year’s greetings and the presentation of gifts.
