Irkutsk municipal libraries completed the charity drive Sow a good deed, collecting school supplies, art kits and board games for children from Pribaikalsky Talisman and Family Estate.

Municipal libraries have completed the charity campaign “To Sow a Kind Deed.” It took place from November 1 to December 25, 2014, as part of the program “A Library Without Borders” of the Centralized Library System (CLS) of the city of Irkutsk. The program was supported by the Public Chamber of the city of Irkutsk.
As Natalia Kustova, director of the Irkutsk City CLS, said, during this time a collection of stationery was held for the pupils of the adaptive pedagogical center “Pribaikalsky Talisman” and the regional organization of disabled people “Family Estate”: albums, creative kits, paints, pencils, markers, board games, and much more.
On the eve of the New Year holiday, all the collected gifts were ceremoniously presented to the children from “Family Estate” and “Pribaikalsky Talisman.”
Participants in the campaign included ordinary residents of Irkutsk, employees of the CLS libraries, members of the Public Chamber of the city of Irkutsk, as well as the Main Office of the bank for the Irkutsk Region, the book trade company “ProdaLit,” and the joint-stock company “Verkhnechonskneftegaz.”
“By providing help, we give not just material things, but joy and hope to children,” said Natalia Kustova. “In our difficult time, when there are more and more people in need of care and material assistance, it is hard to find a person capable of taking someone else’s problems as their own, and how wonderful it is that such people still exist! We thank all the residents of Irkutsk who showed humanity, kindness, and compassion!”
