Petrozavodsk native Yulia Yalovitsyna, who was in second place in the contest, dropped out after a scandal over accusations that her husband was involved in an online porn studio. Yulia and her husband deny all accusations, saying the case is based on speculation and has no evidence, and the trial is closed. The article tells how this local news story quickly became a major internet scandal and why many questions still remain.
Yesterday it became known that our compatriot from Petrozavodsk had dropped out of the competition, despite being in 2nd place (about 35,000 people were vying for the spot). The contest organizers struck her from the list of contenders.
The reason for everything was the scandal that erupted around Yulia’s name first in Petrozavodsk, and then across the entire Internet.
On March 10, one of the Karelian online publications reported: Yalovitsyna’s husband is accused of producing and distributing pornography. Allegedly, he organized a porn studio on the Internet. He hired girls to undress provocatively in front of webcams, displaying their charms to foreign users of the World Wide Web. According to the authors of the publication, Yulia herself “took an active part in selecting girls for intimate work.”
She was brought in as a witness in her husband’s criminal case. - Yes, my husband is accused under Article 242 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, - Yulia commented on the scandalous publications, - but we plan to win this case. The investigation has no evidence whatsoever. I have never acted in “adult films.” I have never exposed my body for money. All the facts are pulled out of thin air, and my personal life concerns no one except me and my husband.
According to Yulia, during the searches police officers seized her home computer, which contained images that the investigation could classify as pornography. "Well, there were all sorts of images there, so what? I’m not 18 anymore. But they never appeared on the Internet, and I certainly never worked as an "internet model"," Yulia insists.
She also denied claims of her involvement in organizing porn studios. According to her, some witnesses mentioned this during interrogations, but these statements do not correspond to reality. "In this case, everything is completely made up. The case has been going on for a year and a half already, and they (law enforcement agencies) can’t do anything about it," Yalovitsyna said.
Her husband, Alexey Yalovitsyn, shares the same opinion. "What is pornography? There is no such definition in the law at all. If one person communicates with another, that is called personal communication, not "distribution of pornography"," Alexey stated.
The trial in this case is being held behind closed doors, so law enforcement agencies refuse to make any official comments.
As the former head of the Karelia Interior Ministry, Igor Aleshin, previously told journalists, the activities of the organizers of Internet porn studios were uncovered as a result of operational-search measures carried out by officers of the “K” unit of the Karelia Interior Ministry. According to the investigation, several such studios were created in Petrozavodsk, where more than 50 female models worked. Clients received a password to access a special website and could watch in real time as the girls performed certain actions that the investigation considers pornographic.
According to the Interior Ministry, the porn site was registered in Las Vegas, and advertisements for the underground film studios’ products were placed on foreign Internet resources. The clients were mostly foreigners.
Whether Yulia and her husband are guilty of anything or not will be determined by the court, but the fact remains: she definitely will not get the best job in the world.
