On April 24, Irkutsk held a large campaign Save the forests of the Baikal region, bringing together about 400 students and schoolchildren from Irkutsk and nearby districts. The day ended with a flash mob and paper collection at seven sites as part of Student Eco Week.

On April 24, the large-scale campaign “Let’s Save the Forests of the Baikal Region!” was held in Irkutsk. It was organized by the Irkutsk regional branch of the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation, the Irkutsk Region Forestry Agency, the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Reserved Baikal Region,” the city department for physical culture, sports and youth policy, the environmental department of the Irkutsk city administration, the Irkutsk Palace of Children’s Creativity, and the young naturalists’ station of the Irkutsk District Municipal Formation.
About 400 students and schoolchildren from Irkutsk, the Irkutsk District, and the Shelekhov District gathered at the “Khudozhestvenny” cultural and leisure center. A rich program was presented here: speeches by specialists from environmental organizations, children’s creative groups, screenings of video films, and a quiz about specially protected natural areas. The participants then walked to the square in front of the Trud sports palace, where an impromptu rally was held. Here, the Forestry Agency also demonstrated the equipment used in firefighting. The campaign concluded with a themed flash mob: the students and schoolchildren first formed the shape of a fir tree, and then rearranged themselves into the slogan: “Live, forest!”
Also on this day, paper collection was organized at 7 venues. The events were held as part of the youth environmental project “Student Eco-Week.”
