Summer trips for motorists are becoming more expensive, in Irkutsk over half a month AI 92 and AI 95 gasoline rose in price, while diesel fuel stayed the same. The article explains why fuel prices are rising and gives the view of an Irkutsknefteprodukt representative on exchange quotes and seasonal shortage. Why gasoline is getting more expensive now and what to expect next in the article.

Summer is the season for vacations and long trips. Some people rack up the kilometers driving to their dachas, others to Lake Baikal. As drivers note, it has become more expensive to drive their own cars.
- I usually fill up for a thousand rubles, - says Irkutsk resident Anna. – And here I saw that the amount was the same, but there was less gasoline in the tank. About a liter less.
The price of 92-octane gasoline has jumped by 43 kopecks over the past half month, and by the same amount for 95-octane. But it should be noted that compared with last year, this still seems acceptable. In October 2014, AI-92 was sold at 35.42 rubles. And the price of diesel fuel has remained at the same level - 34 rubles 62 kopecks.
Petr Petronchak, Deputy General Director for Retail Sales and Development of JSC "Irkutsknefteprodukt":
"The price on the exchange is rising, so we are raising the cost too"
- Gasoline is becoming more expensive for a simple reason - the price of fuel on the exchange is rising (for several years now, a single specialized exchange for the sale of petroleum products has been operating - ed.). This increase that we are seeing is already the third in a row. The first two price increases were at the end of May - beginning of June. Each time the exchange adds 500-1000 rubles per ton. This is typical for the summer season: plants are shut down for maintenance, which leads to a fuel shortage. Less of it is sold on the exchange, so the price rises. As for neighboring regions where gasoline is cheaper, that is also understandable: the closer we are to the field, the cheaper the fuel. Besides, in Omsk, for example, there is a modern plant that has already undergone reconstruction.
