The activities of seven young men were interrupted by police. A group of counterfeiters was detained at the central market in Irkutsk. The men bought various goods in the pavilions, paying with “fake thousands.” This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Irkutsk Region.One of the suspected criminals, upon seeing police officers, tried to flee in a Hyundai car. However, the fugitive lost control and crashed into another vehicle.
“During the inspection of the vehicles used by the offenders, police discovered banknotes with a denomination of 1,000 rubles bearing characteristic signs of high-quality counterfeiting, as well as a traumatic weapon. In addition, a service search dog, while inspecting one of the cars, indicated a bag containing a substance of plant origin. At present, the suspicious mixture is being examined,” the press service said.
At present, a criminal case has been opened on the grounds of an offense under Article 186 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (manufacture, storage, transportation, or sale of counterfeit money or securities).
