In Irkutsk, special posters appeared on 15 buses as part of the Watch Out, Children campaign, which reminds drivers and pedestrians to be careful on the roads. The Yuri Ten Charity Foundation, traffic police and Bank of Moscow also hold open lessons in schools, distribute leaflets and prepare useful brochures for schoolchildren by September 1. Special attention is given to younger schoolchildren. In summer, when the risk of injury is especially high, children and parents are reminded of traffic rules in an accessible way.
In Irkutsk, special posters have appeared on 15 buses, reminding drivers to be attentive on the roads. The Yuri Ten Charitable Foundation, together with the traffic police and Bank of Moscow, continues to carry out the “Caution, Children!” campaign. This was reported by the press service of State Duma deputy Sergei Ten.“We try, in a simple and unobtrusive way, to draw the attention of drivers and pedestrians to the problem of child injuries on the roads. For this, a wide variety of means are used; last year we covered the sides of buses with stickers, and this year we made large stickers for the windows. Also, on the eve of the summer holidays, a series of open lessons was held in various schools across the city, all of which were meant to remind children and parents of the rules of behavior on the road,” said Konstantin Shilov, senior traffic police propaganda inspector in Irkutsk.
In 2014, a children’s traffic town was built, where children can study traffic rules and practice the skills of proper movement along the streets of Irkutsk.
“Summer is one of the most injury-prone periods of the year, especially for schoolchildren, who are left without the close attention of teachers and parents and spend more time outdoors. This year, on the eve of the summer holidays, 8,000 leaflets with useful information were distributed in 80 Irkutsk schools, concerning not only pedestrians, but also passengers, as well as bicycle and scooter riders,” said Sergei Ten, chairman of the board of trustees of the Yuri Ten Charitable Foundation and State Duma deputy.
Sergei Ten also said that before Knowledge Day, schoolchildren in Irkutsk will also receive a special brochure that will contain not only useful information about traffic rules, but also a class schedule and the multiplication table.
“Most of the campaigns are aimed at younger schoolchildren, since such important things as knowledge of traffic rules should be instilled from early childhood. I am sure that regular and systematic work will bring results and cases of child injuries on the road will decrease significantly,” Sergei Ten concluded.
