The material explains how these changes will affect schools and why participants see the new system as useful for the region.

15 July in Irkutsk, under the chairmanship of the acting Minister for Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region, Pavel Rostovtsev, a meeting was held on issues of developing the system for training the sports reserve in the Russian Federation.
The main topic of the meeting was the transition of existing sports training institutions to a new type of organization. The existing Children and Youth Sports Schools and Olympic Reserve Schools, which are educational institutions of additional education, will in the future specialize exclusively in the sports training of their wards.
“This is an excellent practice for our region. Now everyone has information about the current programs and the action plan. It became clear that nothing needs to be invented, all the programs already exist, and the important thing is to know how to use them,” said Konstantin Kulikov, director of the municipal budgetary institution of additional education for children “Irkutsk Regional Comprehensive Children and Youth Sports School ‘Sparta’,” sharing his impressions of the seminar.
Over the course of two years, they will be in transition. Both children and youth schools and sports schools will operate. After this period, the organizations must decide whether they will remain educational institutions or move into the category of sports organizations. Moreover, educational institutions will be able to train only athletes with sports ranks. Candidates for Master of Sport, Masters of Sport, and above are the responsibility of sports schools.
