An exhibition of artistic ceramics has opened at the local history museum, featuring works by masters from seven countries, from Japan and Spain to Russia. The exhibit is unique because all pieces were created plein air on Olkhon. For two weeks the artists molded, decorated, and fired them on a mobile creative site. The exhibition runs until August 16, and all works will join the Baikal Keramistika project collection and the future museum.
An exhibition of artistic ceramics has opened at the local history museum. It features works by ceramic artists from seven countries: Japan, Mongolia, Latvia, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, and Russia. The exhibition will run until August 16. This was reported by the press service of the Irkutsk city administration.
The exhibition is unusual in that all the works on display were created in plein air conditions at a mobile creative site. On Olkhon, over the course of two weeks, the artists molded, decorated, and fired the pieces.
"After the symposium, we came to understand Russian ceramics better. It is impossible to grasp art from a distance. Only close communication, acquaintance with the local nature and Russian culture gives such understanding," said Shirin Kochak from Turkey and Valentin Petko from Latvia.
All the works presented at the exhibition will form the collection of the "Baikal-KeraMistika" project, and later of the future museum.
