Since the beginning of the year, juvenile crime in the Oktyabrsky District of Irkutsk has decreased by 2.2%. As inspectors of the Commission on Juvenile Affairs note, the reduction in crime was facilitated by preventive measures carried out by specialists from all entities of the prevention system. This was reported by the administration’s press service. In six months, 45 crimes were committed in the Oktyabrsky District, including three serious and especially serious crimes and 42 crimes of medium severity. Of these, 10 crimes were committed by teenagers.
"Reducing the level of crime among minors, including repeat and group crime, and preventing socially dangerous acts committed by teenagers are the main tasks of the KDN and ZP of the Oktyabrsky District, which are under special control," the mayor’s office said in a statement.
In 2013, crime growth amounted to 24%. Official statistics do not take into account socially dangerous acts committed by teenagers under the age of 14. Previously, for 10 years, there had been an annual decline in juvenile crime.
In 2014, the number of registered crimes decreased by 16%. While crime rates in certain areas are declining (apartment burglaries, vehicle thefts), the number of cases of driving under the influence, the level of corruption-related crimes, and crimes involving grievous bodily harm is increasing.
