Passengers of the Barguzin 2, where a fire broke out near Lake Baikal on Sunday, will be taken to Listvyanka tonight and then sent to Irkutsk by bus. The fire is out, no one was hurt, and the cause will be determined by emergency services.

Today, at around ten o’clock in the evening, the motor ship "Alexander the Great" will deliver all passengers of the "Barguzin" to Listvyanka, from where they will be sent to Irkutsk by bus. The fire on the "Barguzin" has now been extinguished, the vessel is at the shore, and employees of the emergency services are already working on it; they are the ones who must determine the cause of the fire. This was reported by the press service of the East Siberian River Shipping Company.
The fire on the ship "Barguzin-2" started on Sunday around six in the evening. According to the ESRSC, "one of the engines of the motor ship caught fire." Earlier, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Irkutsk Region reported that the fire started after an explosion in the engine room. Not even a bang, as the rescue agency usually writes, but precisely an explosion.
At the time of the incident, the vessel, which was heading from Peschanaya Bay to Irkutsk, had 116 tourists and 6 crew members on board. The fire started when the vessel was one and a half kilometers from the settlement of Bolshoye Goloustnoye in the Irkutsk District of the Irkutsk Region.
According to preliminary data, no one was injured.
The shipping company also confirmed that the nearby motor ship "Alexander the Great" was immediately sent to the scene of the incident. It was the one that took aboard all those rescued from the burning vessel.
"Passengers with small children on the 'Alexander the Great' have been provided with comfortable cabins, and everyone without exception with tea, coffee, and soft drinks," the ESRSC press service emphasized.
The shipping company also clarified that the burned "Barguzin-2" was designed by the Nizhny Novgorod design bureau "Vympel" and built in 1991 by the Sosnovsky Shipbuilding Plant in the Kirov Region. The motor ship underwent scheduled repairs on the eve of this navigation season and was inspected by the Russian River Register, whose employees confirmed the vessel’s technical readiness for operation.
