Despite the readiness of sports facilities, the team will prepare at the Novogorsk base. Details on why the camp fell through and the upcoming federation presidium meeting are in the report.
Training camps for the national athletics team will not take place in Irkutsk. The reason was a mismatch in flight schedules and the inability to accommodate the athletes in one hotel. The Russian national team will prepare for the World Championships in Beijing at the base in Novogorsk. As noted by the chief athletics coach of the Irkutsk Region, Vasily Shkurbitsky, all facilities were ready to host the training camp, but the transport and hotel infrastructure fell short.
- The hotel refused to accommodate them. It was ready to receive the athletes starting on the 20th. In addition, there were difficulties in purchasing airline tickets, Vasily Shkurbitsky said.
He also emphasized that on August 5, a meeting of the presidium of the Russian Athletics Federation will be held, at which the list of athletes included in the national team for participation in the World Championships will be announced.
