On September 1, the tenth international Stars on Baikal festival begins in Irkutsk, promising a bright program and surprises. The Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra led by Valery Gergiev will open it, with Gerard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant, Bolshoi artists and Moscow Soloists among the guests. For the first time, concerts will be held not only in Irkutsk, but also in Bratsk, Sayansk and Cheremkhovo, and the festival will end on September 13 with charity projects, a football match and the Note DO auction. Tickets go on sale August 5, and prices will stay at last years level.

On September 1, the tenth international festival “Stars on Baikal” will kick off. The event coordinators have prepared an unusual program with surprises for the residents of Irkutsk. For example, famous French actor Gérard Depardieu will perform on the Irkutsk stage.
According to the organizers’ plan, the festival will open with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra led by Artistic Director Valery Gergiev.
The maestro, together with Denis Matsuev and young pianist Alexander Malofeev, will perform Mozart’s Concerto No. 2 for three pianos.
Guests of the festival will also include artists from the Bolshoi Theatre ballet, Yuri Bashmet’s chamber ensemble “Moscow Soloists,” and young laureates of the Tchaikovsky Competition.
The festival’s artistic director personally approved the program and included several surprises in it. For example, the performance that audiences will see on September 5.
“It will be a dramatic performance, starting at 8 o’clock. And the artists who will come to us are French actress Fanny Ardant and the actor Gérard Depardieu, known to all of us. We have never had such projects at the festival before. Denis promised us an interesting program,” said Tatyana Mezentseva, director of the Irkutsk Musical Theatre named after N.M. Zagursky.
Another innovation will be that the event will extend beyond Irkutsk. “Stars on Baikal” concerts will take place in Bratsk, Sayansk, and Cheremkhovo.
Then the stars will meet in a football match and hold charity concerts and the “Note DO” auction. The festival will conclude on September 13.
Ticket sales open on August 5. They will be available at the box offices of the Irkutsk Musical Theatre and the philharmonic.
Ticket prices for the musical events have remained at the 2014 level — from one and a half to five thousand rubles.
