The scientific director of the ISU Botanical Garden, Viktor Kuzevanov, has been appointed adviser to Irkutsk mayor Dmitry Berdnikov and has already started work. He oversees city greening and preserving the green fund, and sees fighting the poplar moth infesting trees in central Irkutsk as his top priority.

Today, August 11, the scientific director of the ISU Botanical Garden, Viktor Kuzevanov, was appointed advisor to Mayor Dmitry Berdnikov. He has begun his duties.
His area of responsibility will include issues related to greening the city and preserving Irkutsk’s green assets, including protection from insect pests.
As Viktor Kuzevanov said, his top priority is to rid Irkutsk of the poplar (leaf-mining) moth, which has literally occupied the trees on the city’s central streets.
A couple of days ago, the author of the city development project “Trading Axis,” former legislative assembly deputy Alexey Kozmin, became an advisor to the mayor on the comprehensive development of central Irkutsk and urban planning policy on a voluntary basis.
Thus, Viktor Kuzevanov and Alexey Kozmin joined Diana Salatskaya, Alexander Gimelshtein, and Sergei Shulga, who had previously been appointed as volunteer advisors to the mayor.
