Irkutsk authorities have not yet decided the future of the former Panorama nightclub, bought by the city hall two years ago. It was to become an Arts Palace, but the crisis ruined those plans. Now 320 million rubles are needed to repair and refit the building, mostly for a 750 seat concert hall. The administration says it will renovate the site in stages, but cannot yet name this years funding.

Irkutsk authorities have no clear ideas regarding the NK “Panorama.” It was purchased two years ago. It was planned to open a Palace of Arts on the site of the former nightclub, but due to the crisis the plans were not carried out. The estimated cost of the renovation is 320 million rubles. This was reported at a briefing by the acting chair of the committee on social policy and culture of the Irkutsk administration, Tatyana Edelman.
As Tatyana Edelman said, the facility requires enormous financial outlays to adapt the premises for activities with children. The official stated that the city administration will renovate the future premises in stages, year by year. But she was unable to name the amount of funds allocated for these needs this year.

As explained by the acting deputy mayor-chairman of the committee on urban planning policy, Ivan Gotovsky, the main share of the 320 million rubles is needed for the technological equipment of the Panorama concert hall with 750 seats. It is needed to hold various city events, concerts, and celebrations without spending money on renting other premises.
As a reminder, the main reason for the club’s closure was that the building is being bought by the Irkutsk city administration for an estimated 140 million rubles. Note that the owners of NK
“Panorama” had long wanted to sell it, but could not agree on the price with potential buyers.
