In Irkutsk, regular raids continue to remove illegal signs and placards, especially on the pedestrian Uritsky Street and in the city center. Authorities note that there is several times less advertising on facades than in 2013, but it still appears and spoils the look of the historic part of the city. In 2014, two thousand signs were removed, but illegal structures have not yet been fully eliminated.
Despite the fact that raids on Uritsky Pedestrian Street to collect A-boards and signs installed illegally are carried out regularly, entrepreneurs still put up their advertising structures after some time.As the head of the outdoor advertising department of Irkutsk, Natalya Sizykh, said, advertising structures spoil the appearance of Irkutsk, especially its historic part. “For three years now we have been noting that the trend of placing advertising on building facades has already decreased. Today, compared with 2013, there is about three times less of it on building facades. But it still appears, and we are constantly fighting it.”
As a reminder, advertising structures are most often removed on Karl Marx, Lenin, and Uritsky streets. It is precisely in these places that there are many retail outlets. In 2014, two thousand A-boards were dismantled in Irkutsk. The city became cleaner. But for now there are still fewer honest entrepreneurs, and it has not yet been possible to completely rid the streets of illegal structures.
