PJSC “Irkut Corporation” and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus signed a contract for the supply of four Yak-130 combat training aircraft. On August 26, the contract was signed at the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2015) in Zhukovsky. This was reported by the PR department of Irkut Corporation. On the Belarusian side, the document was signed by Alexander Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus; on the side of PJSC “Irkut Corporation” — by President Oleg Demchenko.
“The practical training of the Yak-130 by the personnel of the air base in the city of Lida is planned to be completed by the end of this year. But even today it is clear that this aircraft gives us the opportunity to train flight personnel at a qualitatively new level, as well as to carry out combat missions,” noted Major General Oleg Dvigalev, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus.
In April of this year, Irkut Corporation delivered the first batch of Yak-130s to the Republic of Belarus under the 2013 contract. With the participation of Irkut test pilots, a group of Belarusian instructor pilots for the Yak-130 has been trained.
As part of exercises on combat employment, the aircraft demonstrated excellent accuracy in hitting training targets, including with the use of guided aerial bombs. The high effectiveness of the Yak-130 was once again confirmed not only as a training aircraft, but also as a combat aircraft.
