Reference: the spotted deer lives in southern Primorye, but due to constant persecution it nearly became extinct at the beginning of the 20th century.
In summer, its coat is reddish-brown with white spots; in winter it becomes somewhat duller. In April, the deer sheds its antlers, and new ones grow in their place.
It feeds on herbaceous plants, fallen acorns, nuts and fruits, tree leaves, mushrooms, and berries; in winter it eats bark and young branches.
