In Irkutsk, animal rights activists are collecting signatures demanding an investigation of kennel K-9 over animal cruelty and the service of training Laikas on bears. The petition authors demand the organizer be held accountable, and signatures have already exceeded 1600. The story sparked wide outrage amid earlier protests against cruelty to captured animals in the region.
Animal rights defenders have begun collecting signatures demanding an inspection of the K-9 kennel in Irkutsk due to cruelty to animals. The petition coordinators are outraged by the service “Training Laikas on a Bear,” provided by the K-9 kennel for 300–1,800 rubles depending on the number of dogs and the training conditions.
“The animals cannot escape or defend themselves… The beast dies in agony and for a long time from wounds, from failure to comply with conditions and feeding! And sometimes it even dies during the training! This is hell, a concentration camp for an animal… It is impossible to look at all this without pain and regret. An animal is not obliged to be bait for raising and training dogs,” the website says.
Animal rights defenders insist on an inspection of the K-9 kennel, located at: Irkutsk, 125 Karpinskaya St., and on bringing its organizer Vyacheslav Slavin to criminal and administrative responsibility for violating Federal Law No. 52-FZ of 24.04.1995 “On the Animal World.” As of the time the news was written, more than 1,600 people had signed the petition.
Recall that this is not the first time that animal rights activists in the Irkutsk region have spoken out against cruelty to animals. On August 11, a rally in defense of captured animals was held in Kirov Square. Animal rights activists demanded the closure of the shelter in Karluk, where LLC Perspektiva-Avto keeps captured animals, for cruelty to animals.
