Teachers at IRNITU are most often caught taking bribes

In the Irkutsk region in 2015, 18 criminal cases were opened over bribery in the regions universities, most of them linked to IRNITU. For comparison, in 2014 there were 36 such cases, and verdicts have already been issued in some episodes, but no teacher received an actual prison sentence. The article also notes that corruption cases at IRNITU have repeatedly been the subject of investigations.

In the Irkutsk Region in 2015, 18 criminal cases were initiated on the facts of bribe-taking by officials of the region’s universities, of which 12 were against officials of IRNITU, and 6 against officials of Bratsk State University.
In 2014, on the facts of bribe-taking by officials of universities in the Irkutsk Region (Part 3 of Article 290 and Part 1 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), a total of 36 criminal cases were initiated: 4 against officials of the branch of ISU in Bratsk; 3 against officials of Irkutsk State Medical University, 29 against officials of IRNITU.
In a number of criminal cases initiated in 2014 and since the beginning of 2015, verdicts have been handed down, but none of the teachers lost their freedom.
As a reminder, this is not the first case of bribery at IRNITU. Thus, for taking bribes at the end of last year, a teacher at the technical university was fined 270,000 rubles and deprived of the right to engage in teaching activities for 3 years.
