The tournament, held for the fourth time, traditionally brings together young footballers in three age groups and promises a tense fight for medals.

The final stage of the Irkutsk Mayor’s Cup in mini-football among neighborhood teams will take place today. The sports competitions will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Lokomotiv Stadium at 1 Norilskaya Street.
The first Irkutsk Mayor’s Cup in mini-football among neighborhood teams was held four years ago. Traditionally, it takes place in two stages.
The district championship this year was held from August 18 to 29. The teams competed in three age groups: 15-16 years old, 13-14 years old, and 12 years old and younger.
As reported by the Irkutsk city administration press service, 58 teams competed for a place in the final. Nearly 500 children took part in the competition.
The teams were formed based on where they lived. Each team consisted of 8 players: 4 field players, 1 goalkeeper, and 3 substitutes.
Based on the results of the matches, 24 teams advanced to the second round — the two strongest teams in each of the three age groups from each district.
