In Irkutsk, two drug dens were shut down within seven days. One was located on 2nd Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, the other in Irkutsk-II. In one case, when officers arrived, there were eight people in the apartment. The apartment owner was an elderly man; his son, his common-law wife, and six visitors were there.Taking advantage of the homeowner’s incapacity, his son turned the apartment into a haven for drug addicts, the press service of the Federal Drug Control Service for the Irkutsk Region reports.
In the second case, the drug den was organized by two shift workers and friends. There were seven people in the rented one-room apartment.
The traces of the den in both incidents were immediately obvious to the officers. The signs were clouds of cigarette smoke and syringes scattered about.
No valuables were found in the apartments; perhaps the most expensive items were single-burner stoves.
At present, all detained persons are undergoing medical examination, based on the results of which administrative reports will be drawn up.
The operators of the drug dens face a harsher punishment. A criminal case has been opened against these individuals under Part 2 of Article 232 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
