During the summer, the trains of the Children's Railway made 1,126 trips, and more than 14,000 passengers used the services of the small line, which is 11% higher than last year's figure. Traditionally, the young employees of the Children's Railway demonstrated to passengers a high level of training, the reliability of the railway infrastructure, and the safety of the transportation process, the railway's press service reported.
During the summer of this year, the Children's Railway organized five shifts, during which 630 young railway workers completed practical training in the main railway professions: locomotive driver, station duty officer, carriage inspector, and track patrolman. Future railway workers mastered the professions of passenger service employees: they worked as conductors, ticket cashiers, and radio announcers. At the same time, 185 students came to Irkutsk for practical training from the line stations of the East Siberian Railway, where branches of the Children's Railway are located.
Usually, the children, together with mentors and specialists from railway enterprises, take part in events dedicated to public holidays. For example, by Victory Day, a knitting club was organized at the Children's Railway, where everyone who wished learned and then knitted scarves in the form of the St. George ribbon; they also made crafts and postcards for war veterans.
Special attention is given to children with disabilities and children who find themselves in difficult life situations. For them, in addition to trips and excursions, the Children's Railway organizes additional events: exhibitions and fairs of creative works, environmental clean-up drives, and celebrations.
Starting in October, classes will begin at the Children's Railway, where schoolchildren will continue to gain new knowledge and skills in this field of activity.
Note that this year, 21 graduates of the Children's Railway entered specialized educational institutions (IrGUPS, ITTTRiS, and the Siberian College of Construction and Entrepreneurship).
