Australian Open doubles winner Fabio Fognini arrived in Irkutsk to take part in Davis Cup matches against Russia. He said he was very tired after two flights, while his teammates had already held two practices. From September 18 to 20, Russia and Italy will meet at Baikal Arena, and locals have a chance to see it live.

This morning, on September 15, Australian Open Grand Slam doubles champion Fabio Fognini arrived in Irkutsk to take part in Davis Cup matches against the Russian national team. The tennis player had a difficult time with the two flights.
The athlete arrived in Irkutsk at 04:00 on a flight from Moscow. He had no baggage problems, unlike recently happened to world No. 25 Andreas Seppi.
- I am terribly tired after two flights, – said Fabio Fognini.
As a reminder, his colleagues – team captain Corrado Barazzutti, Andreas Seppi, Simone Bolelli, Paolo Lorenzi and Matteo Donati – arrived in Irkutsk on September 14. The athletes have already held two training sessions.
In Irkutsk, from September 18 to 20, the Davis Cup tennis match between the Russian and Italian national teams will take place at the Baikal-Arena sports complex.
Background: The Davis Cup is an international team competition in men's tennis. The event has been held annually since 1900, and since 1979 under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation.
The Russian national team has every chance of winning, but so do the Italian tennis players. And Irkutsk residents and visitors to the city have a unique opportunity to see the intensity of this confrontation live. Let's wish our team good luck!
