Gennady Zyuganov said the CPRF is ready for a second round of the gubernatorial election in Irkutsk region and warned opponents against fraud. He recalled 2001, when Sergey Levchenko was close to victory, and regretted that full debates did not take place. The second round is set for September 27, with Sergey Eroshchenko and Sergey Levchenko taking part.

The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation warned the CPRF’s opponents in the Irkutsk Region gubernatorial election against manipulations and emphasized that the party’s candidate Sergei Levchenko is ready for the second round.
Zyuganov recalled the situation in 2001, when Sergei Levchenko was one step away from victory. "At one o’clock in the morning we were ahead of our rival by 4%, then the entire power system went down, the monitors went dark, and in the morning Sergei Levchenko lost by 1.7%," said the CPRF leader.
"We will do everything to ensure that the elections are fair and are ready for the second round," Gennady Zyuganov noted.
At the same time, he expressed disappointment that, as Zyuganov pointed out, full-fledged debates did not take place in this gubernatorial election. "Our candidate is by far more experienced. If there had been full-fledged debates, the election would have ended in Levchenko’s favor already in the first round," the CPRF leader said.
As a reminder, as reported by the Election Commission, the second round will be scheduled for September 27. Two candidates who received the highest number of votes, i.e. Sergei Yeroshchenko and Sergei Levchenko, will take part in the voting on September 27.
