As a reminder, the crash occurred on July 5 of this year in Irkutsk. An Audi crossed into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a Nissan.
As a result of the head-on collision, the Nissan passenger died from her injuries, and the driver of the car was hospitalized.
Also taken to a medical facility was a passenger who was in the Audi at the time of the crash. A pistol was found in the car during a search.
It turned out that the 31-year-old man had alcohol in his blood at the time of the crash, and he refused to cooperate with the investigation.
At first, it was assumed that the culprit of the accident had fled the scene, but this version was later not confirmed.
Data was obtained indicating that the citizen whom witnesses saw inside the SUV was also the one driving it. This was reported by the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The likely culprit of the accident has now been questioned as a suspect as part of the investigation into the criminal case opened under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation resulting in the death of a person through negligence.”
