Due to todays snowfall in Irkutsk, streets will be treated at night with sand salt mixtures. 43 special vehicles will go out to prevent ice. If the snowfall continues, treatment will be repeated before dawn, and forecasters promise warmer weather, so no major cleanup is expected in early October. At the same time, traffic police urge Irkutsk residents to be especially careful on the roads.

Due to today’s snowfall in Irkutsk, work is beginning to treat the streets with special sand-salt mixtures. At 22:00, 43 special spreading machines will go out onto the streets of Irkutsk: 21 units will work on the left bank, 23 on the right bank. Treating the roads with the mixture is necessary so that ice does not form overnight.
As forecasters predict, the snowfall should stop in the evening. But if the precipitation continues, the streets will be treated again toward morning to ensure safe travel for Irkutsk residents.
In the future, forecasters predict warmer weather, so there will be no large-scale mobilization of snow-removal equipment at the beginning of October. However, traffic police specialists are urging city residents to be extremely careful on the roads.
