The mayor met with residents of houses No. 1, 3, 5 on Sportivny Lane and assured them their homes would not be demolished. These houses were declared unsafe in 2005 and included in the federal program for demolishing dilapidated and unsafe housing, though the Irkutsk residents learned of this unexpectedly. After the appeal hearing, these houses are planned to be removed from the program, then the mayor will meet with residents again.

The mayor met with residents of houses No. 1, 3, and 5 on Sportivny Lane and informed them that the houses would not be demolished. This was reported on October 6 of this year by the city administration press service.
As a reminder, in 2005 a commission declared the housing unsafe, on the basis of which it was included in the federal program for the demolition of dilapidated and unsafe housing. Although, according to the residents of Irkutsk, this decision came as a complete surprise to them. They went to court demanding that the 2005 commission decision be overturned. The court of first instance granted the residents’ claims. But after that, an appeal was filed against this decision. Concerned residents turned to Dmitry Berdnikov with a request to resolve the acute situation.
Deputy Mayor and Chief of Staff of the Irkutsk City Administration Yulia Efimova said that after the case is considered by the appellate court, these houses will be excluded from the federal program. After that, a follow-up meeting will be held between the city mayor and the residents of these houses.
