In Irkutsk and the region, the first ice towns and winter venues are opening. Crystal Tale is already open, and soon new parks with rides, fir trees, and the city residence of Father Frost will appear. The main ice town in Kirov Square promises legends of Baikal, and in Taltsy they are preparing slides up to 220 meters long, where you can reach 30 km h. In addition, traffic controllers will be on duty at the slides for safety.
The favorite Russian winter pastime is sledding down hills; it is exactly what we miss in summer. And now, on the eve of the opening, the first ice town, “Crystal Fairy Tale,” has opened. It is located near the Palace of Marriages. For young visitors, there are 6 slides, a paintball shooting range, and snowball games. Later, the city residence of Father Frost will open here as well.
In the first winter month, the authorities plan to build 6 parks with winter attractions and install 211 Christmas trees, 69 of which will be ceremoniously opened.
The largest one, by tradition, will decorate Kirov Square and will reach 30 meters in length. But it will not be the only thing delighting residents in the main square. This time, the legends of Baikal will come to life here. Father Baikal himself will decorate the labyrinth and will be 3.5 meters high. We will also see the Angara, the Yenisei, the Sarma, and Kultuk. And the slides will be made in the shape of waves.
The ceremonial opening of the main ice town, as always, will take place on December 25 at 18:00.
But the Taltsy Museum will open its slides already on December 5-6. Work is in full swing here. The longest slide is 220 meters long, and you will be able to ride it at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
This year, especially for large groups, 5-seat cowhide pelts have been cut. On them, everyone will be able to slide down together “in a little train.”
To prevent injuries, traffic controllers will be on duty near the slides at all times.
