The article also describes plans for a new project, a recreation and entertainment park on Kony Island.

On October 16, the completion of one of the stages of the renovation of the dance floor on Yunost Island took place in Irkutsk. The reconstruction of Irkutsk’s “Sydney Opera House” was carried out on the initiative of the Irkutsk Youth Mayor’s Office and with the support of the city mayor. Dmitry Berdnikov thanked the project coordinators and sponsors for the work done.
“I meet with young people and see how active they are! This is wonderful and inspires hope that the city will be in reliable hands,” Dmitry Berdnikov noted. “The restoration of the dance floor showed that together we can implement those projects at which many people wave their hand. Let the reconstruction of the dance floor be a small project, but it is truly significant. In the spring we will complete the reconstruction, and this venue will gain new life and its former popularity. Thank you all for such a result!”.
The city mayor also added that in 2016 work will begin on another project – the construction of a recreation and entertainment park on Kony Island.
For active participation in social projects, the heads of construction organizations and enterprises were awarded the city mayor’s gratitude: “City of Irkutsk Capital Construction Department,” ZAO “Vostok Center Irkutsk,” OOO “SPMK-7,” OOO “Kresta,” OAO FSK “New City,” ZAO “Management Company “Vostsibstroy,” OOO “STB-Project.” The Irkutsk Branch No. 8586 of OAO “Sberbank of Russia” was also recognized with the city mayor’s gratitude.
As a reminder, in May of this year, at a meeting with Dmitry Berdnikov, members of the youth mayor’s office proposed restoring the “Sydney Opera House” on Yunost Island.
