On October 28, an exhibition of graphics by Alexander Muravyov, People’s Artist of Russia, will open at the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Art Museum. The event will run until November 22.
The exhibition will feature 65 drawings made in pencil and pastel. Most of the exhibition consists of new works created after the artist moved to the capital of Russia.
More than 40 sheets belong to the cycle “Biblical Subjects”: here are the sacrifice of Abraham, the images of the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, the righteous Lot, and the Apostle Paul.
In the series of graphic sheets titled “Sergius of Radonezh. Sorrower for the Land of Rus,” the master turns to the texts of Sacred History and to the patristic Tradition.
The sheets from the series “Poteshki” are characterized by vivid imagery and an optimistic perception of the world. This is the artist’s appeal to folk tradition and folklore.
According to Muravyov, he dedicated the exhibition “Fragments” to the memory of his friend, artist Nikolai Basharin, who passed away in September.
As reported by the museum’s press service, the exhibition will open at 4:00 p.m. on October 28 at the following address: 23 Karl Marx St. Admission to the opening is free.
