In Irkutsk in 2016 a wooden children's play complex will appear, built as part of cooperation between the sister cities Irkutsk and Pforzheim. The project will unite student exchanges, workshops and joint work of students and teachers from two schools. A similar facility is planned in Pforzheim, and the project itself will become a symbol of friendship between the cities.
In 2016, a wooden children’s play complex will appear in Irkutsk as part of the sister-city cooperation between Irkutsk and Pforzheim (Germany). This decision was made at a meeting between the city authorities and a delegation from Pforzheim (Germany), which visited Irkutsk from November 9 to 14 this year. The purpose of the event is the exchange of experience between students and teachers of vocational educational institutions, intercultural communication, and joint professional activity.
Teachers from the Alfons Kern School in Pforzheim—specialists in wooden construction Frank Guthier and Harald Diel—visited Irkutsk to discuss a joint project for the exchange of experience between the Alfons Kern School and the Irkutsk College of Architecture and Construction. The project is being carried out within the framework of cooperation between the Irkutsk administration and the municipality of Pforzheim with the support of the German-Russian Society and the Enz district (Germany), the Russian-German Society “Irkutsk-Pforzheim” (Irkutsk, Russia), under the patronage of the Eberhard Schöck Foundation (Baden-Baden, Germany).
One of the stages of the project will be an exchange of students in the spring of 2016. During the visit of the Germans next year, it is planned to jointly build a small children’s play complex in Irkutsk dedicated to the friendship between Irkutsk and Pforzheim. A similar facility will also be implemented in Pforzheim together with students from the Irkutsk College of Architecture and Construction.
During their stay in Irkutsk, teachers from the Alfons Kern School became familiar with the education system at the college and held workshops for students.
