The Irkutsk group Doctor Jazz will perform at the musical theater

The Irkutsk group Doctor Jazz will give a big concert on November 23 at the N.M. Zagursky Musical Theater, where their colleagues and dancers from the New Intelligentsia project will perform with the musicians. The program includes a retrospective of 20th century music, a section dedicated to Frank Sinatra, and the best arrangements of works by Sting, Michael Jackson, John Lennon and Ray Charles. The concert will be a kind of report on the eventful 2015 and will bring together the best numbers from All That Jazz.

The Irkutsk ensemble “Doctor Jazz” will give a big concert at the N.M. Zagursky Musical Theater. The jazz musicians will perform on November 23. Along with the musicians, their colleagues will take the stage, as well as dancers from the “New Intelligentsia” project.
The evening will be hosted, as always, by Vasily Kucherenko. A separate part of the performance will be dedicated to Frank Sinatra, whose 100th anniversary the whole world will celebrate on December 1.
As the organizers said, the concert will serve as a kind of report on the group’s activities in 2015. It has been a busy and fruitful year for the Irkutsk ensemble. “This concert is the ideology of jazz transformation. Familiar melodies will sound in a different way. In addition, we will perform our best arrangements from the legacy of Sting, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, and Ray Charles. We want to create a retrospective of all 20th-century music — from jazz classics to the present day,” says the ensemble’s artistic director Alexander Filippov.
By the end of the year, the jazz ensemble will give two more concerts: on December 3 at Trend Bar and on December 16 in the monthly program “All That Jazz” at the Actor’s House. It should be noted that it was the “All That Jazz” project that became the basis for many beloved compositions. The best numbers will be included in the large concert program on November 23.
Reference: “Doctor Jazz” was founded in 2001 and is the leading jazz ensemble of the Irkutsk region. Winner of international competitions. The ensemble has many performances both in Russia and abroad (the USA, Japan, Ukraine).
