Irkutsk hospitals and clinics will begin switching to an automated system in 2010, with computers and electronic patient records appearing in medical facilities. Plans also include creating an emergency hospitalization unit at the ambulance station to track available hospital beds and help reduce patient transport time. In addition, primary vascular and rehabilitation units will open in the city, and the mayor demanded that all these measures be formalized as a separate program with implementation deadlines.
Computer database for doctors, electronic records for patients. Hospitals and polyclinics in Irkutsk will switch to an automated work system in 2010.Yesterday, at a meeting of the highest administrative committee, the head of the health department, Irina Gubanova, spoke about the department’s plans. Next year, an emergency hospitalization unit for patients will appear at the ambulance station. It will compile a database of available beds in the city’s hospitals, which will make it possible to reduce the time it takes to transport patients to a medical facility. Primary vascular departments will be opened at the First City Hospital and the medical unit of the aircraft plant. The necessary equipment will be purchased from the Irkutsk budget. Recovery departments will appear in several medical institutions, for example, for those who have suffered a stroke. In addition, the city treasury will allocate funds next year to buy computers for polyclinics. Along with them, electronic patient records will begin to be introduced. They are already in use in several medical institutions.
- I have an instruction for Irina Ivanovna: your information must be formalized by a mayor’s decree; it should not be just an informational document but, as we have agreed, a program, and it must specify the implementation timelines for all the areas you mentioned, - said Mayor Vladimir Yakubovsky.
- This information will always be with the patient, and upon admission to a hospital, when seeking medical care, with the patient’s permission, doctors will be able to use the information, see what examinations he has undergone, and compare them over time, - says Irina Gubanova.
