In Irkutsk, anti terrorist protection will be strengthened before the New Year holidays because of the global terrorist threat. Metal detectors and video surveillance will be installed at mass gathering sites, and licensed security firms will be engaged. Earlier, unscheduled anti terrorism briefings were ordered in all municipal institutions and administrative buildings.

On November 24, a meeting of the anti-terrorism commission was held at the city administration. As a result of the event, it was decided to strengthen anti-terrorism security measures in Irkutsk ahead of the New Year holidays, including in connection with the global terrorist threat.
As the press service of the city administration reports, citing the head of the Russian Interior Ministry’s department for Irkutsk, Oleg Savin, facilities with large crowds will be equipped with metal detectors and video surveillance. In addition, licensed security company employees will be brought in to work.
As a reminder, in the middle of this month the mayor instructed the relevant departments of the city administration to conduct unscheduled briefings on countering terrorism in all municipal general and supplementary education institutions, municipal enterprises, and administrative buildings. Special attention is recommended to be paid to the awareness and qualifications of employees responsible for guarding these facilities.
