The Commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation for Children’s Rights, Pavel Astakhov, responded to the tragedy that occurred in the Novo-Lenino microdistrict on November 27. Recall that during the day, a woman threw her two sons, aged 2 and 4, out of the window of the eighth floor, and then jumped out herself.
The woman died at the scene from her injuries, and the children were hospitalized. Later, the two-year-old boy died, and his brother is currently connected to a ventilator.
"We are clarifying all the circumstances of this tragedy; we need to understand what caused it - madness, a clouding of reason, or some social reasons that drove her to this terrible act. Unfortunately, this is not the first such case," Pavel Astakhov said.
As the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Irkutsk Region, Svetlana Semenova, reported, her representative has already gone to the scene of the incident. This family was not registered with the authorities; according to the preliminary version, the deceased was a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The children’s father was at work at the time of the tragedy.
A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
