The governor of Irkutsk Oblast proposed transferring the water sports complex in the Solnechny district from Gazprom ownership to regional ownership, to launch it in the first quarter of 2016. Authorities plan to make visits affordable for residents, and free pool entry for certain groups. Staff selection and document preparation are underway, and the complex includes pools, a gym, dining areas, and rooms for various sports.

The head of the Angara region sent a letter to the Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Gazprom, Alexey Miller, with a proposal to transfer the water sports complex, located in the Solnechny microdistrict of Irkutsk, to regional ownership.
This was reported on November 30 of this year by the regional government press service, citing a statement by the head of the region during an inspection of the sports facility. “We must, together with the investor and the customer of the construction, do everything to begin operating the facility already in the first quarter of 2016,” the governor said.
As a reminder, PJSC Gazprom is the investor in the construction of the sports complex, which was built as part of the celebration of the 350th anniversary of the regional center. In the summer of 2015, the facility was commissioned. Construction of the complex began five years ago.
According to the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, one of the most important tasks is to set a fee for the sports complex’s services that is affordable for the population. “Certain categories of residents will have the opportunity to visit the pool free of charge,” Sergei Levchenko emphasized.
As noted by the Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region, Ilya Reznik, staff recruitment for the pool is currently underway, and this involves more than one hundred people. Together with the Ministry of Property Relations, work is being carried out to determine tenants for the catering area and sports halls. Documents necessary for the handover and operation of the complex are being prepared. The governor instructed that all organizational issues be worked out by the end of January.
The water sports complex consists of four blocks. Block A contains a 50x25 m pool bowl with spectator stands for up to 1,500 seats, Block B contains a 25x12 m pool bowl, Block V contains a catering facility of various service categories with auxiliary premises, and Block G contains a multifunctional sports hall (36x18 m) with a bath complex and a medical and rehabilitation center. Additionally, the project provides for: a children's room, halls for aerobics, fitness, sports dancing, table tennis, and other active sports.
