Irkutsk businessman killed his mother because of business problems

A shocking tragedy occurred in Irkutsk, a successful businessman and CEO of a large company attacked his 64 year old mother with a knife and killed her. Friends say he had been acting strangely in recent days and had complained of serious business problems shortly before the incident. Investigators are examining the crime, and the Investigative Committee says he had no conflict with his mother and the cause is still unknown.

41-year-old Irkutsk resident Ivan Ivanov (name changed for ethical reasons), according to acquaintances, was a balanced and calm person, yet he always achieved the goals he set. As he had wanted, he enrolled at BSUEP, and later started his own business, although no one believed in him.
Things went uphill: Ivan Ivanov rented out real estate, spent several years in construction, supplying machine equipment, and repairing railway cars. The earnings were enough for his family - he has a wife and three children; and for his hobby - he liked to take part in rally races in his SUV. But recently the picture changed for the worse.
- Three days ago he came back from a business trip from somewhere in the north not like himself, - acquaintances say. - He said that the crisis had completely worn him down, that serious problems with the business had begun.
His relatives also noticed that Ivan seemed not to be himself. For all three days before the tragic day, he behaved strangely, did not answer questions, was thinking about something of his own and looked away. And on Sunday, November 29, he went to see his 64-year-old mother. He had a very good relationship with her, and constantly came to visit on Krasnogvardeyskaya. So on that day, when he rang her doorbell, she, as always, opened it with a smile. What conversation took place between them is unknown. Ivan himself does not remember what happened. At some point he took a knife and inflicted several blows on his mother. Immediately after what happened, he called his relatives himself and told them everything.
He was not going to hide: he went outside unclothed and walked between the houses until he froze. An hour later he entered one of the entrances on Utkina Street. Residents immediately noticed a strange man in a state of shock - unclothed, covered in blood, saying something incoherent.
Concerned neighbors called the police. By that time, crews were already combing the area in search of the woman’s killer and therefore quickly arrived at the scene.
- A criminal case has been opened against the man over the incident, - the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region reports. - It was established that he had never felt hostility toward his mother. There had also been no conflict that day. The reasons for the murder are still unknown. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is now being decided.
