Irkutsk residents spent the New Year holidays in unusually warm weather, and according to forecasters, Epiphany will also pass without severe frosts. No major changes are expected until January 19, and after the holiday it will get colder, but daytime temperatures will be around -22°C and at night down to -35°C. The report also says it is too early to judge how such a winter will affect spring, though May is preliminarily expected to be warm and dry.

All through the New Year holidays, Irkutsk residents were pleased by weather that was unusually warm for this time of year. Temperatures consistently remained several degrees above the average.
However, Epiphany is ahead. Should we expect Epiphany frosts this year?
According to meteorologists, there is no need to expect severe frosts. No major changes in the temperature regime are expected until January 19, and Epiphany will turn out unexpectedly warm. But right after that, frost will still arrive; however, it cannot be called biting either: daytime temperatures will be around 22°C below zero, and at night the thermometer will drop to - 35°C.
It is still too early to say what effect such a warm winter will have on the weather in spring. According to preliminary forecasts, May is expected to be warm and not rainy.
