At night in Irkutsk, firefighters rescued a 26 year old man from a burning private house on Baikalskaya Street. Neighbors saw flames on the roof and called for help in time, and firefighters carried out the victim, kept him conscious until medics arrived, and quickly put out the fire. The fire may have been caused by a cigarette, which spread the flames to the wall and roof of the house.

A young man nearly died in a fire last night. The blaze was reported by attentive neighbors who saw the roof of private house No. 73 on Baikalskaya Street on fire. Firefighters who arrived at the scene entered the house and found a man who was barely able to stand on his feet; they carried him outside and called an ambulance.
According to the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Irkutsk Region, firefighters took the 26-year-old victim of carbon monoxide poisoning into a warm room and, talking to him, kept him from losing consciousness until medics arrived.
Fifteen minutes later, the fire was extinguished. It damaged the roof of the house over an area of 80 square meters and a room over an area of 1.5 square meters.
One version is that the man was smoking in bed. The fire spread from the cigarette to the wall and roof of the house.
