From February 9 to 14, the Russian Billiards Championship will be held in the regional center. The strongest players from all over Russia will come to Irkutsk to demonstrate their skills and compete for the title of champion in the “combined pyramid” discipline. This was reported by the Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk Region, Ilya Reznik.
Following the championship, the national team will be formed to participate in the world championship, which will take place from April 4 to 9 this year in Kazakhstan.
– The main billiards competitions are held mainly in the central part of Russia or abroad. Therefore, holding the Russian Championship in Irkutsk is a great opportunity for athletes to test themselves, show their level, and gain competitive experience, the minister noted.
For reference: the Russian Billiards Championship is held in three disciplines: combined pyramid, dynamic pyramid, and free pyramid. In 2016, the national championship in dynamic pyramid will be held in St. Petersburg, and in free pyramid in Kaluga.
