The number of apartment burglaries in Irkutsk in 2015, compared with the corresponding figures for 2014, decreased by one third — from 1,114 to 844 crimes.Last year, 776 people were brought to justice, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Irkutsk Region reports.
As a reminder, recently in Irkutsk a suspect was detained in the theft of five million rubles from an apartment. A report of the crime was received by the police duty unit on the evening of January 15. It is known that the owner of the money came to Irkutsk to buy an apartment and left the large sum with his relative, from whom the funds were stolen.
The suspect turned out to be a 27-year-old unemployed Irkutsk resident with a prior conviction. During a search at his home, 4.5 million rubles, jewelry, and fur items were found. A criminal case has been opened over the theft.
