On April 16, 2016, the international Total Dictation event will unite about 150 thousand participants in Russia and abroad. It is a chance to test literacy and recall Russian grammar rules.

Do you want to test your literacy? For schoolchildren, a literacy test is a common thing, and for adults it is a chance to sit back down at a desk, remember their school years, and check whether they have forgotten the rules of the Russian language.
The organizers of the international literacy campaign “Total Dictation” announced the date of the event — April 16, 2016. It is planned that the campaign will bring together 150,000 participants across Russia and abroad.
The essence of the campaign is a free dictation for everyone who wants to take part, held on the same day all over the world. Anyone can write the dictation and check their level of literacy.
Novosibirsk coordinators of the campaign note that “Total Dictation” also has a scientific character: “The dictation revealed a huge number of options for placing punctuation marks that are not described in the rules, and about which it is impossible to say unequivocally whether this is an error or not.”
As a reminder, in 2015 the regional center recorded 115 top scorers in the dictation — more than in previous years. By the way, Irkutsk took fifth place among Russian and foreign venues in terms of the number of participants — 2,002 people. Then the dictation was written at ten venues, and one more — a mobile one — was organized for the training camp of student teaching teams.
