In Irkutsk, the flu and ARVI quarantine for schoolchildren was extended until February 17 to consolidate the positive trend in the epidemic situation. Although illness rates are already below the epidemic threshold, doctors believe extra days without classes will help finally contain the spread of infections and avoid a new wave. Classes in city schools were canceled from February 10 and were to resume on the 15th.

Unscheduled holidays for schoolchildren continue. City authorities have decided to extend the quarantine for influenza and ARVI until February 17. This is being done in order to "consolidate the positive trend" in the epidemic situation among young Irkutsk residents.
The incidence rate among children and teenagers is below the epidemic threshold. However, doctors say that a few more days of quarantine will make it possible to finally defeat the spread of infections and insure against a new wave of the epidemic.
As a reminder, classes in Irkutsk educational institutions were canceled starting February 10 due to the increase in the number of sick schoolchildren. On Monday, February 15, classes were supposed to resume. This was announced on February 12 by the same city administration.
